Bath-Brunswick Branch ProjectsOngoing community service projects developed and supported by AAUW volunteers Growstown School - AAUW members and local residents restored an 1850s one-room schoolhouse off the Church Road in Brunswick in 1983. Area school classes make field trips to Growstown School to experience a 19th century school day. An AAUW superintending committee oversees the project. For information, contact Linda Clement, 207-729-8563. Home to Home - AAUW, in collaboration with the Sixth District Court of Maine, spearheaded a grass roots effort to eliminate violence when separated/divorced parents transition their children for visitation. In 1996, a partnership of community agencies created a safe and friendly center on the Brunswick Naval Air Station. After September 11, 2001 and for security reasons, Home to Home left NAS. The exchange now takes place at Mid Coast Hospital, supervised by trained volunteers. For information, contact Rich Siegel, co-ordinator, 207-837-4894.
