Cyndi's List
of Genealogy Sites on the Internet A
comprehensive index to over 107,500 genealogical resources on the
Internet. You'll find a list of links that point you to genealogical
research sites, all categorized & cross-referenced. It's like a "card
catalog" to the genealogical collection in the immense library that is
the Internet. This site is particularly good, because it has links to
genealogical resources in many different countries. Over 1000 new
links are added each month!

FamilySearch
Internet Genealogy Service The Latter-day
Saints (Mormon) site that allows you to access the top level
documentation available from the LDS archives. Obviously there
is no way that they can put their millions of microfilm records
online, but what they have available is an excellent starting point
for anyone contemplating use of their resources.

Genealogy
Resources on the Internet - Introduction
The two main sections are web sites and genealogy mailing lists. The
web section is extensive though it is somewhat modest related to
Cyndi's List; however, the mailing list section is the premier site
for such lists with over 25,000 entries and 100 or so added weekly.

Hamrick Software - U.S. Surname
Distribution Enter a surname (last name)
into the form below and you'll get a map of the United States showing
the distribution of people with this surname within the 50 United
States. This map is often helpful when trying to determine a starting
point for genealogy projects. The source of this data is the 1850
Census, 1880 Census, 1920 Census, and 1990's phone books. Note that
the Census data is a sampling of 1 in 100 names, so the 1990 data is
the most accurate.
