Gardening Philosophy
Harpswell is surrounded by water.
Everyone lives or gardens within a
mile of the sea. To protect our marine
resources we must reduce our use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides
with the goal of being free of them in
the future.
Harpswell has very limited fresh
ground water. We promote the
judicious use of water in the landscape and the use of less thirsty
plants and native species.
