Mission

Primary Purpose:

  • To enhance knowledge and love of gardening among members/community
  • Support Conservation and environmental protection via club programs and scholarships
  • Support objectives of the Garden Club Foundation of Maine

Area of Membership:

Harpswell, Topsham, and Greater Brunswick Maine

History

The Garden Club was organized May, 25, 1931 and served as combination Garden Club, Village Improvement Society, Historial Society, and Land Trustee for Wildflower and Wildlife for many years.

The Club currently provides oversight for the following sites:

  • The Union Church (1841): National Register of Historic Sites
  • Contennial Garden: Harpswell Historic Park
  • Memorial Garden (1968): Brunswick Naval Air Station
  • Friendship Garden (1972): Brunswick Naval Air Station
  • Merriman Pond

The Club also helped restore the Harpswell Town Meeting House Cemetery (1757) and assisted in organizing the Annual Harpswell Day.
