The Pejepscot Historical Society
Our Newest EXHIBIT AT THE PEJEPSCOT HISTORICAL SOCIETY.

Brunswick High School 1938 - 1995
Exhibit Open Tuesday Through Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM - Winter
A CONTINUING EXHIBIT AT THE PEJEPSCOT HISTORICAL SOCIETY.
This exhibit, which opened in June 2008, uses letters, documents, artifacts, photographs, and, in one instance, skeletal remains to explore the work of one of the foremost criminal investigators of the early twentieth century. Born in Farmington, Maine, Frank Whittier (1861-1924) was a scholar-athlete at Bowdoin College and went on to become director of its gymnasium and professor of bacteriology and pathology in its medical school. His skill as a pathologist and his latent interest in legal matters (he studied briefly for the law after getting his undergraduate degree) led him inevitably to a career in forensics.
For the last thirty years of his life, Whittier resided at 161 Park Row, Brunswick, the building now designated as the Skolfield-Whittier House. Visitors to “CSI Brunswick” may wish to view the exhibit in conjunction with a tour of that house, which is open to the public from June through mid October. Brief biographical treatments of Whittier and his family can be found on our Web site. See “Skolfield-Whittier House Inhabitants”.
